Richard Thompson brings his skill and artistry on the guitar to Sunset Center.
The Carmel Art Association presents an exhibition of painters Melissa Lofton, Shirley Holt, William F. Stone Jr. and Susan Giacometti, and sculptor Gustavo Torres, through 10/2.
The Center for Photographic Art continues to exhibit works by Yamamoto until 10/19.
The exhibit Love, Violence and Lunacy, where East Salinas artist Cerna Jasso presents the contradictions of the human condition through works on paper and canvas, continues at the National Steinbeck Center.
The ImageMakers: Focus on Nature exhibition continues at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History through 9/29.

PacRep presents Macbeth as part of the Carmel Shakespeare Festival through 10/14 at the Circle Theatre.

The Pacific Grove Art Center opens four exhibitions with a reception for the artists. The exhibits include the Studio Tour of Monterey County Artists, watercolors by Cheryl Kampe with photos by Stephen M. Schindler, and watercolors by Anne Downs with photos by Nancy Raven. The shows run through 10/18.

Monterey County Artists Studio Tour offers a chance to visit the studios of more than 50 artists countywide, through 9/9.

Becoming American: Teenagers and Immigration combines photos with interviews to create an interesting comment on diversity. The exhibit continues through 12/2 at Steinbeck Center.

Monterey Live presents Vagabond Opera with its operatic tenor, accordian, cellow, saxaphone, base and percussion to play an edgy mix of music.
Valley Noir, an exhibition of paintings by Randye Sandel and an exhibition of new sculpture by Kathleen Crocetti, is on display at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts.

The Carmel Art Association holds a group show featuring the watercolors of Alicia Meheen and Wilda Northrop and the sculpture of Douglas Downs. The gallery showcase shows the oil landscapes of Jeff Daniel Smith and Cyndra Bradford. The exhibits continue through 11/6.
The CSUMB World Theater features India Jazz Suites with Kathak dancer Chitresh Das and tap dancer Jason Samuels Smith.
Carmel restaurants and wineries show off their wares at the Taste of Carmel, now through 10/7. Live and silent auctions are held and entertainment is provided at various locations in Carmel.

The Robinson Jeffers Festival offers a tribute to the early 20th century Big Sur poet with a luncheon, various talks and music at Tor House and Highlands Inn in Carmel. Through 10/7.

Max Bragado-Darman conducts the Monterey Symphony Orchestra in its season opening concert with Barbara Nissman on piano playing Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms through 10/15. On 10/14 and 10/15 the performance takes place at Sunset Center.

The Jazz and Blues Company host “An Evening with Al Lerner.” Al Martino, musical director for Eddie Fisher and pianist for Harry James, and other musicians sing, play piano and tell stories. Martino signs his new book Vamp Til Ready.
The Wildcats of the World exhibition of oil paintings opens at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History and runs through 12/29.

The Chamber Music Monterey Bay hosts the St. Petersburg String Quartet with guest violinist Michael Tree. The quartet performs Mendelssohn, Brahms and Shostakovich at Sunset Center.
For the holiday season Gallery North shows “object” art, including invited “object” artists in addition to member artists.

Christoph Campestrini conducts Soloists and the Monterey Symphony Chorus in Handel’s “Messiah” with the Monterey Symphony through 12/3 at Sunset Center.
