Monterey Live presents Vagabond Opera with its operatic tenor, accordian, cellow, saxaphone, base and percussion to play an edgy mix of music.

Valley Noir, an exhibition of paintings by Randye Sandel and an exhibition of new sculpture by Kathleen Crocetti, is on display at the Carl Cherry Center for the Arts.

The Carmel Art Association holds a group show featuring the watercolors of Alicia Meheen and Wilda Northrop and the sculpture of Douglas Downs. The gallery showcase shows the oil landscapes of Jeff Daniel Smith and Cyndra Bradford. The exhibits continue through 11/6.

The CSUMB World Theater features India Jazz Suites with Kathak dancer Chitresh Das and tap dancer Jason Samuels Smith.

Carmel restaurants and wineries show off their wares at the Taste of Carmel, now through 10/7. Live and silent auctions are held and entertainment is provided at various locations in Carmel.

Max Bragado-Darman conducts the Monterey Symphony Orchestra in its season opening concert with Barbara Nissman on piano playing Beethoven, Schubert and Brahms through 10/15. On 10/14 and 10/15 the performance takes place at Sunset Center.

The Jazz and Blues Company host “An Evening with Al Lerner.” Al Martino, musical director for Eddie Fisher and pianist for Harry James, and other musicians sing, play piano and tell stories. Martino signs his new book Vamp Til Ready.

The Wildcats of the World exhibition of oil paintings opens at the Pacific Grove Museum of Natural History and runs through 12/29.

For the holiday season Gallery North shows “object” art, including invited “object” artists in addition to member artists.
