DJ Logic represents the festival’s abiding curiosity about what’s coming next. A virtuoso of the turntable, Logic is one of the few DJs who thrives in live musical settings, performing alongside musicians as part of an ensemble. Long before he released his seminal 2001 debut CD, Project Logic (Ropeadope), the Bronx-born DJ toured widely with saxophonist Mars Williams’ hard-hitting world jazz combo Liquid Soul, showing it was possible for DJs to interact with and shape the improvisational flow of the music. Over the years, Logic has been the DJ of choice for jazz musicians such as Don Byron, John Scofield, Christian McBride, and Medeski, Martin and Wood. Playing two sets a night in the new Lyons Lounge, Logic will have many opportunities to demonstrate why the turntable deserves a place in the jazz arsenal.
