Q: Why no black Santas?

Q: Why no black Santas? Sonya Lauster

Why no black Santas?

Asked at Marina’s Dunes Shopping Center.

Follow-up: What is the worst thing to put in someone’s stocking?

NAZARIE WHIPPLE | Health Care Instructor | Salinas

A: That’s not important around here because the black population is 4.2 percent. We could find a black Santa; someone from a church—a minister probably. I could make a call right now and find one.

Under the Radar: A bill from the IRS.

CLIFF MORTENSEN | Realtor | Salinas

A: I’ve seen black Santas in malls before. I’ve even seen Oriental Santas. Well, that was in Southern California. Kids around the world are different races and ethnicities and there should be a Santa for each one.

Make Nice: Coal. I wouldn’t want anything bad in a stocking because these are happy times.

ELANOR HARVY | Nob Hill Employee | Salinas

A: My son just asked me the same question the other day. I don’t think we live in an area where there are a lot of black people that could be Santas. I visit the Bay Area often and there are black Santas.

Sock it to ’Em: Dirty socks. That would be gross.
