County's Unemployment Rate Reaches 8.8 percent

Monterey County's unemployment rate grew to 8.8 percent in November, up from 7.1 percent in October, according to state job figures released this morning.

The county lost 7,400 jobs, primarily in the seasonal farm industry, between October and November. The local jump in unemployment surpasses the state jobless rate of 8.3 percent.
