Whale watching is guaranteed from all the theatrical windows facing white-water to open-ocean horizons here. Currently, mothers and their young are swimming north, misting huge and diminutive spouts across the surface of the sea, the creatures following a tradition honored by their noble kind for so long. Countless windows in the house are privy to the magnificence of the annual migration of the grandest mammals on our planet, and when the whales aren’t traveling past, the views reveal other superstars.

The ocean, the weather and happenings within those elements are nonstop from the living room, dining room, kitchen and the master wing, all on the main level of three. Downstairs, the office, media room, and gym, still above ground level, have huge windows and decks. The exterior of the house reveals none of what’s inside despite its multi-window facade.

Four sets of massive double columns supporting a deep portico face the huge 360-degree, two-lane driveway intersected by a single descent from the street that forms a perfect letter Q. The house is neutral stucco, including the perpendicularly attached five-car-deep, three-car-wide garage, the largest space in the house at 45½ feet by 26 feet.

Above that, a small suite (bedroom with view, one of 5-1/2 exquisitely detailed, contemporary baths, walk-in, little living room/office and tiny sitting room) is the complete third level.

On the main level, a double front door opens into the 25-foot-by-11-foot foyer, hinting at the amalgamation of formality and high-tech contemporary throughout. Three, Roman-columned archways lead right, to the living room; off-center, to the dining room; and left, to the master wing. The flooring in the foyer flows from one room to the next on a current of stone, up and down steps and stairs until fine carpet is met or, on the downstairs level, cherry planks in a large office and the media room. A fully equipped gym follows with an interlocking rubber surface.

Although the house was nearly new when purchased, the family did a marathon remodeling with additions that added almost 2,000 square feet, making the house a total of 5,486. In the new master wing, the rectangular bedroom (fireplace) down a long hallway (windows) is spatially generous to the terrific three-sided window with the ocean glory but with some loss of privacy. The master bath has a towering, extra-wide Pharo-equipped shower with every water source imaginable and an eight-foot arch of glass regrettably wide-screening all ablutions for a nearby house. Next in line, the master closet is amazing, followed by a guest room/bath on the opposite end from the master.

In the long kitchen, countless cherry cabinets stained and highly glazed in the home’s medium orange incorporate one of many plasma TV screens, Miele stacked ovens, Viking six-burner, Sub-Zero refrigerator, granite counters and high-design facets.

Certain aspects of the home may not work for some people. The third-level suite is private but has no kitchen, has a high staircase and might feel isolated or a bit dark. Lots of stairs require two landings to get to the lower level. For the size of the house, there seems to be few exits. The landscaping wants attention. The property is convenient (seven minutes to Rio Road). And the views? To live for.
