Follow-up:What items deserve more/less public funding?
GEORGE BAHU | Restaurateur | Monterey
A: I spend a lot of money on shoes. I don’t know if a lot of people notice, but I’m pretty frivolous when it comes to that department.
Lesson More: The schools are lacking. These days, when some of these kids get out of high school, they can’t even hold a conversation.
SHERRY MORTON | Big Sur | Retired teacher
A: Books. I eat while I’m reading so I don’t do library books.
Get Moving: Public transportation—they need a fast rail. They need more money for the environment. And education: when I was a schoolteacher, I had to pay $800 a month on supplies. They can take the money away from the lawyers.
VAKUB KACPRZYNSKI | Restaurant manager | Monterey
A: Speeding tickets. I spend way too much money on traffic violations.
Po Po Dunk: We need to cut down on police officers. But seriously, education needs more funding. Monterey and Seaside have terrible funds there.
