Besides the butterflies, what is Pacific Grove’s most defining trait?

Asked at Breaker’s Cafe in Pacific Grove.

Follow-up: How do you feel about putting parking meters in P.G.?

SCARLETT SUTCLIFFE | Breaker’s Server | Pacific Grove

A: The clock tower [at City Hall]. As long as I have been here, it has been there and the hands are always either stuck or two hours behind. I’d paint it cobalt blue.

Middle Road: Although the revenue might help some, I’m really in the middle about them.

PAT SURGINER | Caddy | Monterey

A: The golf course. When I first moved here, I played there. The back nine is great to play. It’s all along the ocean and a beautiful place to play.

Not Meter Made: I know P.G. is hurting, but meters are a little greedy to me. The tourists shouldn’t have pay for parking when they come to visit.

JOHN HAYDEN | Waiter | Pacific Grove

A: It’s quietness. I don’t like the hustle and bustle of larger towns. It’s too busy, but P.G. is nice and quiet. By 7 at night, downtown is dead. How would someone not like that?

Adamant: Forget it. No way! There isn’t enough foot traffic as it is right now.
