OCEAN GUARDIAN GRANTS | COUNTYWIDE—NOAA’s Office of National Marine Sanctuaries offers grants of up to $6,000 to California schools (including Monterey County kindergartens through high schools) whose students create a school- or community-based conservation project that protects their local watershed and the ocean. AG AGAINST HUNGER | SALINAS—Ag Against Hunger seeks volunteers to get involved in its gleaning program. Working with local growers, volunteers help collect produce that has been left behind after commercial harvest. The food they collect is then transported to food banks and pantries in the tri-county area. A barbecue follows the glean. Reservations requested. 8:30-11:30am.
