UPDATE: The Salinas Police Department identified last night's homicide victims as Juan Carlos Ledesma, 19, and Juan Maciel, 20, both of Salinas. "Each victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds," according to a police press release. "The third victim is being treated for multiple gunshot wounds, as well, and is recovering from his serious injuries in the Bay Area. The third victim is expected to survive."
Three Salinas men were shot—two of them killed—yesterday while in a backyard, marking the city’s 11th and 12th homicides of the year, police said. The double homicide took place blocks away and within 24 hours of Monday’s slaying of 16-year-old Salinas High School student Ismael Mandujano.
According to Salinas police, yesterday’s male suspects walked down a driveway on the less than 100 block of Center Street at 7pm, opened the backyard gate and fired several rounds at the victims, ages 18, 19, and 20. The surviving victim called police. He was flown to a Bay area hospital for treatment.
