County lifts contamination advisory for Monterey Municipal Beach.

Bacteria in the water at Monterey Municipal Beach have returned to levels safe enough for human contact, according to the county Health Department in a press release issued just past 3pm on April 15.

The department posted an advisory for the beach due to high bacteria levels in a sample taken April 13.

The contaminants, likely from stormwater runoff, bring an increased risk of illness, so beach users were directed to avoid contact with the water while the advisory was in place.
