Friday, August 7, 2009
A 15-year-old boy was gunned down and killed in Salinas yesterday afternoon, continuing a deadly gang war that has claimed seven lives since July 27.
About 2:15pm officers were called to the 500 block of Terrace Street where they found the teen wounded from multiple gunshot wounds, police said. He was transported to Natividad Medical Center where he died from his injuries.
Less than an hour before the homicide, two men were shot at the corner of Del Monte Avenue and Sunrise Street. A 19-year-old man was shot numerous times in the upper torso and life flighted to a Bay area hospital, police said. The 26-year-old victim was treated at a local hospital, police said. Both shootings are being investigated as gang related.
Salinas has been rocked by 21 homicides this year, quickly approaching last year's record of 25 slayings.
