Monday, August 31, 2009
After scorching just under 6,500 acres outside of Soledad, firefighters have fully contained the Gloria Fire, the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection announced this morning.
Firefighters are still monitoring the blaze for hot spots but are winding down operations, said David Shew, division chief for CAL FIRE.
The fire, which started Thursday from agricultural fireworks designed to scare off birds, destroyed one residence and one outbuilding, according to CAL FIRE. All evacuation orders have been lifted.
