Q: Would you give a Planned Parenthood gift certificate By Sarah Kenoyer

Would you give a Planned Parenthood gift certificate (yes, they exist, at least in Illinois)?

Asked at Cypress Center in Monterey.

Follow-up: Why doesn’t abstinence education seem to work?

RICK LOBO | Service Technician | Monterey

A: I wouldn’t give it to a minor. It’s not for them, but some people need it, financially. Like if I saw a woman with 10 kids, I would definitely give her one. Take some birth control!

Feeling It: Hormones. Youth. No education about it.

NINA NGUYEN |Beautician | Salinas

A: I would, especially for a young person because it protects them from a lot of things, like STDs. But I hope they would use it for something like birth control – not an abortion.

Lost Cause: Ignorance. Peer pressure. There’s no value to [abstinence] anymore.

PATRICK WANG | Teacher | Monterey

A: I would because it could really help a person out. It’s nice for people to have the options Planned Parenthood provides.

Everybody’s Doin’ It: Peer Pressure. [Sex] is enjoyable. Ninety percent of the population is doing it.
