Edward James Olmos to speak at Boys and Girls Club

Emmy-winning actor, director and activist Edward James Olmos will be in Salinas Jan. 21 for a Boys & Girls Clubs of Monterey County benefit.
Olmos starred in Stand and Deliver and played Lt. Martin Castillo in Miami Vice during the ‘80s. Olmos makes regular appearances to reach out to at-risk kids, according to a Monterey Bay Central Labor Council press release. “He stresses the importance of education, the risks of gang life and he promotes the notion of taking responsibility for one's own actions and one's own happiness in life,” the release says.
The event is from 12-1:30pm at 85 Maryal Drive, Salinas. Call 394-5171 to reserve a seat. Donations are requested.
