The professional bull riding tour makes its annual stop in Salinas.

Rodeo cowboys are some of the toughest sportsmen around, especially the professional bull riders. They get tossed, kicked and trampled in hopes of bragging rights for top spot and prize money.
On Wednesday, 45 of the best bull riders in country showed off at last night's U.S. Smokless Tobacco Professional Bull Riding Challenger Tour (PBR) at the Salinas Sports Complex. The event precedes this year's 99th annual California Rodeo Salinas, which starts tonight.
Before the 7pm start time, cowboys tightened their spurs, dusted off their chaps and strapped in for the wild ride in attempt to hold on for 8 seconds, while taking control of the giant animal.
"For the bull riding, (Salinas) is a big one," said Chad Denton, a 10-year PBR veteran who calls Berry Creek, Calif. home. "And this one is a California event, which is nice, but you still treat it like getting on a bull any other day."
