A locally-made art documentary premieres at the first Golden State Film Festival in Monterey.

The movie is a piece of art itself as the its subject is art for the sake of art.

"New Brow: Contemporary Underground Art" premiered tonight at the first Golden State Film Festival in Monterey. The locally-made film attracted about a 125 people who learned more about a new art movement dubbed "new brow."

"There's no definable quality in it," says the film's director Tanem Davidson. "It's about the image itself rather than the concept behind it."

Following its release, Davidson says he has had interest to show the film in Paris, London and Barcelona and plans on taking the documentary on a "world tour" in hopes of viewers gaining an appreciation for an art form that might already be familiar to them.

"This (film) was made for people who may like this type of art, but may not know anything about it," says Davidson.
