SEIU members say union is misusing funds to fight election
Friday, May 8, 2009
Monterey County SEIU members say the union is misusing members dues to fight a worker campaign to join National Union of Healthcare Workers.
In press release today, unhappy SEIU Local 521 members say union President Kristy Sermersheim used union dues to obtain several injunctions against the county to block an election for workers to choose between SEIU and NUHW.
The statement also claims Sermersheim took control of former SEIU Local 817’s assets, including the union hall worth an estimated $500,000 and a $600,000 checking account.
