Keep Flowing

PUC rejects Cal Am request to ban new water hookups.

Cal Am must keep issuing water permits, even in the face of a state order not to.

That's the message in the Nov. 10 letter from the California Public Utilities Commission to California American Water in response to Cal Am's Nov. 5 request to place a moratorium on new water connections in its Peninsula service areas.

Although the state cease-and-desist order of Oct. 20 orders Cal Am to halt most new water hookups until it has a new water supply, a temporary stay on CDO, granted by a local judge earlier this month, makes Cal Am's request moot, the PUC decided.
