Church youth leader accused of molesting 11-year-old girl

The Salinas Police Department today announced the arrest of a 20-year-old church youth leader on suspicion of molesting a 11-year-old girl.
Eric Mendoza, police say, "sexually assaulted" the girl at Iglesia Pentecostal Nueva Vida Church at 817 Beech St. Mendoza, who had worked at the church for about a year, was arrested on multiple accounts of child molestation, police say. The victim reported the crime last Friday, Nov. 20.
The case comes as another high-profile Salinas child molestation case is working its way through the courts. Rev. Antonio Cortes is accused of molesting a 14-year-old boy and possessing child pornography.
