Aquarium receives $1.4 million in grants for climate change projects.

In the month of Monterey Bay Aquarium's 25th anniversary, it has received more than $1.4 million in grants from the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) to educate the public about how climate change is affecting the oceans.

More than $900,000 will support "Climate Change and the Ocean: Awareness to Action," advocacy programs related to the upcoming special exhibit Hot Pink Flamingos: Stories of Hope in a Changing Sea, set to open next March. The programs include a virtual reality theater show that uses Google Earth technology, and other live theater events. It will also support development of online features and interactive exhibits related to climate change.

Another $500,000 helps fund MBA's part in a national collaboration of aquariums working together on outreach about climate change.
