Rain's A-Gonna Fall

Potent rain storm to arrive tonight

The National Weather Service is predicting heavy rain and potentially high winds starting tonight through Wednesday morning.

"This will be a very dramatic change from the typical late summer pattern the area has been experiencing," the NWS says. "The origins of this storm are from a Western Pacific typhoon called Melor that hit Japan a few days ago."

Tuesday will see the heaviest rainfall with amounts reaching as much as three inches along the coast and in the valleys and up to 10 inches inches in the Santa Lucia Range near Big Sur. Tomorrow's winds could increase to 20 to 40 mph with gusts of 60 mph possible.
