The Whammy Bar will not host its grand opening show this Friday as planned. Gary Smith, owner of the Monterey live music venue located in the former Doc's club, says the point of sale and security systems and new floors aren't installed yet.
The venue's liquor license is still pending due to debt from Smith's previous venue, Monterey Live, according to the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control. ABC lists holds from the state Franchise Tax Board, Board of Equalization and Employment Development Department.
Smith says the holds are taken care of and the license will be released Monday, adding that the venue is scheduled to open May 1 in time to host a Your Music Olympics show.
