And We're Off

Seaside City Council race kicks off with six candidates, three seats.

The November election brings three open seats on the Seaside City Council, and all three incumbents are hoping to keep them. But they could all find themselves out of power: Three challengers have entered the ring.

Mayor Ralph Rubio will face off against Felix Bachofner, a local businessman who unsuccessfully ran for City Council in 2008.

Incumbent councilmen Tom Mancini and Dennis Alexander are challenged by Alvin Edwards, a current Monterey Peninsula Water Management board member and former county superintendent of schools; and Annalisa Mitchell, a therapist for probationers and a member of the Democratic Central Committee.
