The southbound lane of Highway 1 south of Lucia Lodge has slipped into the sea, according to a post from Big Sur blogger Kathleen Novoa.
"There was this crumbling of the shoulder southbound Hwy 1 south of Lucia, about 200 yards south of the restaurant," says CalTrans spokesman Jim Shizers."When the rainy season comes to an end, we'll go back in and shore that section up."
For now, Cal Trans workers have put up a barrier on the southbound lane, and are directing cars along the northbound lane (in alternating directions).
