Election in Gear

Salinas Mayor Dennis Donohue runs again; faces at least two challengers.

Donohue wants two more years—and he's turned in the paperwork to prove it, officially filing for re-election this week

So far, he faces at least two opponents—Hartnell College Trustee William J. Freeman and Margaret Serna-Bonetti, a former Salinas Union High School District Trustee.

The deadline for candidates to officially declare intention to run is August 6.

In city council races, Tony Barrera and Steve Villegas are currently unopposed while three candidates—Steve McShane, Joel Panzer, and Joseph Gunter are in the race for the District Three seat currently held by Janet Barnes.
