If you could change a rule in golf, what would it be?

Asked at the Pebble Beach Lodge in Pebble Beach.

Follow-up: What underappreciated items should you always pack in your golf bag?

HARVEY HICKS | Nurse | Fresno

A: Clean, lift, and play – they should have these rules in effect all the time.

Family Ties: Cell phone and family pictures. Food, if you’re playing in a large group or if they’re not very good. You can be out there for four or five hours.

THERESA GIBSON | Retiree | Mississippi

A: Carts should be available for professional golfers.

Feminine Touch: Handiwipes, sunscreen, and an umbrella for observing in the rain.

JOE FORTE | Retiree | Long Island, New York

A: I would change mulligan, without question. Golfers assume if you have a bad swing you can take a mulligan.

Bug Off: Sunscreen and bug repellant. I used to forget it, but now I always keep it in my bag.
