McShane to announce run for Salinas council

Steve McShane, owner of McShane's Nursery and a Salinas planning commissioner, will declare his bid for City Council on Tuesday, he announced today.
"The City of Salinas faces some of the greatest challenges in its history," McShane said in a prepared statement. "I plan to bring a strong business experience to the table and focus on economic development, public safety and a positive image for where we live and work."
McShane will be vying for the South Salinas District 3 seat held by Janet Barnes, who is running for state Assembly. Like many Salinas politicians, McShane will unveil his campaign on the steps of the National Steinbeck Center.
