Seaside City Council approves Obama Way as Broadway Avenue's second name.

Seaside loves its U.S. president.

On Thursday night, March 18, the City Council approved the commemmorative double-naming of Broadway Avenue as Obama Way.

The new Obama signs will be placed underneath existing Broadway signs, and the Post Office will deliver to both street names. The citizen group that spearheaded the effort will pay for the Obama signs.

After weighing public comments both supporting and opposing the resolution, the council voted 5-0 in favor.

"I thought it was a good idea," says Councilman Ian Oglesby. "It's important for our citizens to be able to look at our street signs and aspire to be all they can be."
