Talking It Out

Carmel sex harassment suit heads to mediation.

Mediation could dash media hopes of a juicy trial in the lawsuit filed by on-leave Carmel Human Resources Manager Jane Miller against the city of Carmel-by-the-Sea.

Miller alleges City Manager Rich Guillen engaged in a pattern of sexual harassment, age discrimination  and retaliation at City Hall. The city has denied all allegations.

The parties will head to mediation March 26 in San Jose, according to court records.

The move may signal a more cooperative approach between attorneys since Carmel swapped San Francisco firm Liebert Cassidy Whitmore for local lawyer Rick Harray, who has a history of working with Miller's counsel, Monterey attorney Michael Stamp.
