November Runup
Salinas City Council candidates line up.
Wednesday, May 5, 2010
Former school board member Margaret Serna-Bonetti and private investigator Rick Cope have both pulled papers to challenge Salinas Mayor Dennis Donohue in November, according to the City Clerk's Office.
The race for south Salinas District 3, which may not have an incumbent if Councilwoman Janet Barnes wins the Assembly primary, is getting crowded. In addition to nursery owner Steve McShane, retired Salinas policeman Joe Gunter and mortgage banker Brian Showalter have signaled that they will run for the seat.
Media planner Kimbley Craig and former police union president Steve Long have thrown their hat in for the District 5 race against incumbent Steve Villegas.
