An Albert Einstein created by street artist Mr. Brainwash looked on from the bushes, holding a sign reading: "Love is the answer."
A giant, black dog splattered with pink paint—another Brainwash piece—guarded the enterance to the lobby of the Sunset Center in while directors, actors and artists wandered around with glasses of wine and snacks during the opening evening of the 2010 Carmel Art&Film Festival.
Inside the theatre, Josh Weigel recieved the prized "Clint Eastwood Filmmaker Award" for his short film The Butterfly Circus.

Following an introduction from Clint and Dina Eastwood, director awards for the weekend were handed out, including Weigel's coveted award, which preceded a showing of his film, which told the story of a limb-less circus sideshow act who finds beauty in life through a more accepting performance group after leaving the freakshow he came from.
"It was a big relief when we finished some of the shots," said Weigel in the lobby following the film's screening. "With a limited budget, you have to find tricks to get things done."
One example is an underwater shot where Weigel and his crew placed the video camera inside a deep fish aquarium, because water-protective housing for his camera was too expensive.
Weigel also said the film was written and based around the main character Bill, played by Nick Vujitit. The actor refused the role until two weeks prior to shooting when he saw one of Weigel's earlier films called Stained, because the movie made Vujitit cry.
