The Boys and Girls Club of Monterey County is one of ten groups nationwide chosen by the federal Department of Justice to receive a $325,000 grant aimed at steering troubled kids away from gangs and toward positive activities.
Congressman Sam Farr is set to join Boys and Girls club staffers Tuesday Oct 26 for the official award announcement.
The grant is to be used to design a community-wide anti-gang strategy, according to a statement from Farr's office.
