Race for Cash
Kanalakis outspends Miller two to one.
Wednesday, October 27, 2010
The latest financial disclosures filed by County Sheriff Mike Kanalakis and challenger Scott Miller show Kanalakis with expenditures of $326,099 and Miller with less than half that amount at nearly $140,000.
Kanalakis had raised $276,832 to Miller's $152,409.
Most of Miller's cash—$120,000—comes in the form of loans to his campaign. He also received $5,500 from the Monterey County Prosecutors Associaiton, along with smaller private contributions.
Kanalakis got a $1,000 vote of confidence from newly minted state senator Sam Blakeslee's campaign, and a $500 assist from a Bay Area-based Republican PAC, the Lincoln Club of Northern California. Much of his other support comes from big ag and Sheriff's Office employees.
