Follow-up: What is the most misguided stereotype about old people?
MELANIE SHEBALIN | Retired | Monterey
A: A hummingbird on my ankle. I love hummingbirds; I think they’re beautiful birds.
Old News: That they don’t have any interests. My mother is 83 and she’s the same person she always was.
TOM CRAIG | Retired | Monterey
A: It would be an atomic symbol, because I was in the nuclear energy business. It would probably be on the back of my neck.
Up for It: That they don’t have a sex life. The best time of my life in that regard was in my 50s. There was nothing to worry about.
DONNA SANTOS | Nurse | Marina
A: I have one with my best friends. We put our birthdays together in Roman numerals and it’s close to my heart. It says “XI-XXIV.”
Ancient Wisdom: That they don’t know anything. You can learn a lot from their experiences.
