Follow-up: What tip would you give someone seeking adventure?
TONY DIGIROLAMO | Sport fisherman | Monterey
A: One day in Carmel Bay the rock cod fishing was so good we stayed out when the weather was closing in. There were 15-foot waves and I was worried that we wouldn’t make it back.
Tip: Never underestimate Mother Nature.
CONNIE VOGEL | Hiker | Grass Valley
A: Being followed by a bear. We just had a sense we had something following us, we could kind of hear something breathing but we were not sure. On our way back we saw some fresh dung and it was pretty steamy.
Tip: Make noise and carry bear mace.
EUGENE PALMER | Cyclist | Monterey
A: Tourists looking at the waves around Asilomar and not paying attention to the road have almost hit me when I was riding my bike.
Tip: Be prepared for any emergency.
