How could live music at Henry Miller Library get any better? Over the past couple of years everyone from MGMT and Fleet Foxes to Band of Horses and Arcade Fire have performed under the magical redwoods. Then in August the miniscule outdoor venue—with the help of (((folkYEAH!)))—raised the redwood bar when the Red Hot Chili Peppers played a hush-hush show before going on a world tour in support of I’m With You (the show even made it into Rolling Stone’s cover story on the Peppers). Rick Rubin, renowned producer of the Peppers latest album and many other nuggets, was on hand. Bassist Flea, a longtime Big Sur homeowner announced: “Anybody who knows where I live, now’s a good time to rob me. Because, you know, I’m here.”
