Way before Charlie Sheen made a meme of the word, this P.G. bike shop was winning. Yeah, they’ve got everything you need to fix, soup up or replace your two-wheeled ride: a full range of cycling clothes, shoes, helmets and parts. But it’s the staff know-how that gave this 25-year-old family business our readers’ top honors. “You treat people how you want to be treated—that’s basically it,” says Ophie Chavez, who co-owns the shop with her husband, Hector. Their son, Erick Chavez, and longtime employee Kevin Forbes are certified mechanics. “We’re kind of like an old Cheers bar,” Ophie says. “You come in, and people know your name.”
