Best Bar for Darts (2012)

Bulldog British Pub

611 Lighthouse Ave., Monterey

658-0686

Nestled inconspicuously in New Monterey is the Peninsula’s dart Mecca. A legitimate sisal fiber board is how they roll here, so keep cricket count correctly or keep your belly to the bar when you’re not throwing. The place is as rich in competition and dart-chucking prowess as it is spirits. Hang around “The Dog” long enough and an inevitable match is sure to unfold. It’s usually local aces honing skills and sharing drinks, but a local sand-bagger working his angle on an unwary tourist or visitor is not unheard of. The real competition comes when local pros, noobs, legends and tipsy tyros alike step up to the hockey line and give it their best in semi-monthly, two-on-two tournaments.
