John Lee Hooker once said, “Every line of the blues has a meaning.” It would be hard to imagine a Friday or Saturday night without meaningful sounds emerging from Sly McFly’s. Under the supervision of booker/barkeep/bassist Jimmy McDowell, the longtime local blues venue hosted a bunch of the usual dance-inducing suspects—including faves like John Broadway Tucker and Big Cat Tolefree—along with occasional surprises like popular Santa Cruz Beatles tribute The White Album Ensemble, who played a sellout post-Thanksgiving.
