The most striking thingbout Mum’s Place is that you can imagine virtually all of the furniture in the home of someone you know. None of it is pretentious or sacrifices design over practicality. There are plenty of leather sofas and sectionals, and a whole theater of chairs to plop down in. A modest bedding department occupies one corner of the store, a wide selection of fabrics and drapery fills another. Artistic touches like old record players and typewriters adorn tables and desks throughout; and caged parakeets greet customers with little chirps, making the experience all the more enjoyable.
