The story of Do Re Mi is one where the resilient little guy hangs tough for decades while industry giants rise and fall. It’s a feel-good story, and owner Charlie Costanza is a feel-good guy. When asked what makes Do Re Mi the best, he laughs. “The first thing is, we’re the only game in town. There’s not many of us left.” But the truth is, after 35 years, you get a reputation for doing something right. And through word of mouth and loyal customers, Do Re Mi has outlasted an entire retail industry. While he doesn’t do live music in the store anymore, Costanza does sell DVDs, gifts and musical instruments. Like he says, “Just trying to fulfill the needs of the community.” Well done, sir.
