Best Sports Bar (2012)

Knuckles

1 Old Golf Course Road, Monterey

Many a sports bar meet the criteria for the basics. Knuckles upper-cuts the criteria with fist-pumping bravado. Beer and lots of it, check. An in-booth tap charges by the ounce; Saturdays double Coronas and screwdrivers are just $7 and Sunday offerings include tall cans of Coors and Bloody Marys for a fiver. Flat-screen TVs aplenty, check. Not only are they beautiful and big-screened, but with a patron-commanded matrix control, the days of hollering at the bartender to change the channel are over. Great food, double check. Situated inside the Hyatt Regency Monterey’s four-star walls, it’s no wonder this food is above and beyond traditional bar bites. Nostalgic sports memorabilia and a giant wooden barrel of peanuts, check. This is one sports bar that has all the bases covered.
