Highway 68 Salinas/Monterey

The East Bay has its pothole-bedazzled 880 Motor Speedway, L.A. has the 405 (and the 10, the 110, the...), and Monterey County…Highway 68. A single lane each way meant to handle 16,000 cars a day and now at twice that. If you have mercy in your heart, any at all, you’ll let those poor shmoes trying desperately to get out of the Toro Park area merge into morning traffic. Maybe when you’re stuck in the Ryan Ranch nightmare, someone will repay you the kindness. At least the drive is pretty, with cows and wildflowers and majestic oaks to help pass the time—time that is never, ever coming back.
