Q: What do you take for granted?

Street Talk 11.08.12 (asked @ Star Market in Salinas.)

What do you take for granted?

Follow-up: What part of American history is most misrepresented?

LESLIE EARNEST | Retired | Salinas

A: That we are the country that gives. We give so much. We’re the first responders of the world.

Red Scare: That the Pilgrims set up an almost Communist society, and it didn’t work.

TREVOR HOLLAND | Chemist | Salinas

A: I take my friends for granted. Even my wife. They’re there for me, and I need to be there for them more.

Italian Beef: Columbus Day. It’s completely bogus. We give Native Americans so little, and have done nothing but take from them.

KATHY HUGGINS | Client Associate | Salinas

A: Good health. I don’t exercise enough or maintain my body, but I’m disease free and don’t get sick too often.

Dodo Birds: Thanksgiving. People look at it as a time to watch football and eat. It’s more a time of reflection. Spend the day with the people for whom you’re thankful.
