Veggie Delight: Arriving out of an agrarian farming society that had endured war, many Korean dishes – kim chi jig-ae (front), bi bim bap (center) and the accompanying mini bowls of flavorful banchan – revolve around vegetables, though beef, pork and fish have figured into the diet more prominently in subsequent years.
