Beach Lockup: Parking lot car break-ins have been a problem at Zmudowski State Beach, but lifeguard Eric Sturm isn’t sure he’ll be sent to patrol there after it closes. “It would probably take more staff to enforce a hard closure than to leave it open and trust in the good citizens of our district to take care of it,” he says. But Jerry Emory, spokesman for the California State Parks Foundation, calls the park closures “a recipe for disaster 
for vandalism.”
