Seaside Man Pleads No Contest to Animal Cruelty Charge
December 12, 2011
A 25-year-old Seaside resident pleaded no contest to a felony cruelty to animal charge and is being held until his sentencing on Jan. 17, 2012.
On July 28 of this year Christopher Young was seen abusing his four-month-old puppy by two passers-by, apparently because the dog was barking. The witnesses say they watched as Young lifted the dog above his head and brought it to the ground in an axe-swing motion, causing severe injuries to one of the dog’s legs.
Seaside police later arrested Young and sought medical attention for the puppy. Young is facing a maximum of 16 months in prison and the chagrin of animal lovers everywhere.
