'Divas and Doggies' Takes to the Runway Saturday

The words "divas and dogs" in sequence are likely to bring up the image of a Paris Hilton-like woman with a hamster-sized dog in her handbag.

Luckily, come tomorrow, Saturday, Nov. 19, the SPCA of Monterey gives local fashion and canine lovers gathered at The Crossroads Carmel a special event that trumps that easily—and benefits SPCA to boot.

Debra C, Ericka Engleman Couture, Fleur De Liz, and Lula's Chocolates donate a portion of their sales to the SPCA all day, and the main event—with J. Lohr wine and hors d'oeuvres, and a fashion show—starts at 2pm in the former Khaki's next to Rio Grill and Wells Fargo. The accompanying silent auction puts all the doggie couture items in the fashion show on the block, among other charming canine products. Adoptable dogs will also make an appearance.

I mean, who doesn't like a pug in Prada? Probably those great danes all decked out in Gucci, but they're always a little snobbish.

Image It happens 10am-5pm at The Crossroads Carmel, Highway 1 and Rio Road, Carmel. Admission is free. Learn more at 264-5403 or email info@spcamc.com.
