AFRP Enters Qualifying Heat of ASPCA/Rachel Ray $100K Challenge

The race is on for Monterey County's own Animal Friends Rescue Project in the qualifying heat for the ASPCA/Rachel Ray $100,000 Challenge.

The 108 shelter participants in the $100K Challenge are all vying for online votes in the hopes they can break into the top 50 contestants. These top 50 will become the official contestants for the 2012 ASPCA/Rachel Ray $100K Challenge taking place this fall.

The contest is a nationwide competition benefiting animal shelters that make getting animals adopted a top priority. Participating shelters are looking to get a piece of more than $500,000 in grant funding, with a $100,000 grand prize going to the winner.

Voting is open online April 5-16 at www.votetosavelives.org.
