SPCA Offering Reward For Information On Abandoned Horses
December 19, 2012
An emaciated, unkempt horse and pony were found ambling through a Prunedale neighborhood near Leafwood and Paradise Roads on Dec. 16.
Neighbors reported the animals to SPCA of Monterey County and say they have never seen them before. The SPCA is now offering a $1,000 reward for information on who abandoned them.
The horse is a 20-year-old bay gelding with arthritic knees and the pony is a seven-year-old palomino mare suffering a severe tick infestation. Both animals are assumed to never have had dental care due to the degraded state of their teeth. They are currently being housed and cared for at the SPCA off Highway 68.
The SPCA is asking the public to contact them at 373-2631 with any information on the animals former owner(s) or the abandonment itself.
